Banff (pronounced "Bamph") is located in the center of Banff National Park, surrounded on all sides by Alberta's Rocky Mountains. When you visit this area you will see why each year more than 4.5 million visitors come to enjoy the unique feeling of the Canadian Rockies. And you’ll get to experience why the United Nations declared this area a "World Heritage Site" in 1985.

There are a lot of things to see and do in Banff, and here are some places you should look into:

Banff Centre
At the Banff Centre you’ll find art, performance, adventure and inspiration. Located on Tunnel Mountain, The Banff Centre features year-round performances and events.
Banff Hoodoos
Banff is well-known for the Banff Hoodoos rock formations; each year, many tourists are on the lookout for them, only to capture on their camera.
Banff Park Museum
One of the things that helped establish Banff as a national park is the Banff Hot Springs. These were discovered by hikers in the 1800s.
Bankhead
History and hiking go hand-in-hand at Bankhead. This easy 1.1 km loop trail – an easy 45-minute walk - leads through the ruins of an old coal mining operation.
Bow Falls
After exploring the ground of the historic Banff Springs Hotel, take the kids for a quick stroll to Bow Falls. Follow the sound of roaring water!
Buffalo Nations Museum
The museum displays all information relevant to the time when Native people followed the buffalo herds into the Bow Valley, hauling their belongings by travois.
Canada Place
Canada Place is located in the Park Administration Building at the end of Banff Avenue. You’ll be one of over 400 visitors who enjoy the exhibits and displays here each day.
Canadian Ski Museum West
Canadian Ski Museum West explores Banff’s ski heritage and Canada’s great skiers. If you have an interest in skiing, or follow the sport, you’ll enjoy the unique collections and memorabilia that are found here.
Cascade Gardens
You’ll find flagstone paths, terraced gardens, tranquil pools, scenic vistas, regal pavilions and a colorful array of over 50,000 flowers. July to early September is the best time of the year, as the flowers are in full show.
Cave & Basin National Historic Site
These historic springs were literally the birthplace of Canada’s national park system. Spend time at this historic site and learn how the discovery of the Cave and Basin springs led to the creation of Banff National Park, Canada’s first.nd in one-of-a-kind shops and chic art galleries.

Columbia Icefields
The Columbia Icefield is located on the boundary of Banff and Jasper National Parks. One of the largest accumulations of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle, it covers an area of nearly 202 square miles (325 square kilometers).
Lake Louise Gondola
Adventure and fresh air await you at Lake Louise’s Gondola. Nestled within Banff National Park, Lake Louise Mountain Resort’s Summer Gondola is open from the middle of May to the end of to September.
Lake Louise
Lake Louise is the most famous glacial lake in the Canadian Rockies and on of the most beautiful in the world. One of the must see attractions when you are visiting Calgary and Banff.
Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks
This is a good area for hiking. Moraine Lake, a stunning emerald green lake, is set before a backdrop of sharp peaks
Sulphur Mountain
Take a thrilling and beautifully scenic ride on the only bi-cable gondola in Canada. First opened in 1959, the Sulphur Mountain Gondola was the first bi-cable gondola in North America and the first gondola of any kind in Canada.
Summit Gallery of Fine Art
The Summit Gallery of Fine Art is located in the historic Cascade dance hall, a perfectly elegant venue in which to view fine art. You’ll see a carefully selected collection of contemporary art, oil paintings and sculpture.
Tunnel Mountain
Tunnel Mountain offers beautiful views of Banff, Mt. Rundle and the Bow Valley. This mountain, just east of Banff, was originally surveyed as the site for a railway tunnel.
